Course Overview

Edmonton, AB – April 29-30, 2024

Training Overview

This training course is essential for anyone involved in the inspection and oversight for the construction of energy transportation facility projects in the Canadian Energy Pipeline sector.

Whether your responsibilities include project management, design management, facility inspection, or integrity, this training provides a comprehensive knowledge base for the mandatory application of CSA Z662 oversight aspects of pipeline facility construction. Training on your responsibilities with respect to civil, pressure, and electrical requirements are also covered.

Detailed instruction on the application of the sections 6 thru 10 is supplemented with instruction on elements of facilities falling under non-pipeline authorities such as pressure vessel safety and electrical safety.

The training provides concept identification and explanations with direct reference to Regulatory Mandates in addition to CAPP and API recommendations. API recommendations that do not meet Canadian requirements are clearly identified to ensure the applicant is able to effectively write the US or Canadian examination.

The CER onshore pipeline regulations are reviewed with reference to some Provincial statutes providing a clear understanding of the authority and application of enforceable requirements.

Details on monitoring and recording competency verification, task execution, permitting and project performance oversight are provided.

This course provides the necessary background and prerequisite to enable participants to write the Canadian or API versions of the 1184 Pipeline Facility Construction Qualification exam. Regulatory and Code examples used in the training are based on the presentation location. This training is also suitable for inspectors who already carry a foreign 1184 credential but require evidence of training to the CSA Z662:23 to meet regulatory obligations.

On Demand & Remote Access to Training

This course contains both online training videos and a live lecture.

Students are encouraged to ask questions during the live lecture and will have access to the instructor at the conclusion of online modules.
